Madhukar Kotawa was born in 1985 in a farming family in Indore, India, they were 5 brothers and sisters. There was a lot of financial crisis in their family when they were young. His father worked as a farmer and his mother sold the produce in the market to support a poor family.
Madhukar sir and his three brothers studied in a government school called Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. There was so much financial crisis in their family, Madhukar sir could not afford to buy his father a bicycle. Madhukar Kotawa and his three brothers regularly walked to school every day, and worked in the fields with his father on Sundays.

Madhukar Kotawa took admission in college with history after high school, he completed graduation from Delhi University. From the time of college he started working alongside his studies, after completing his master's in history, he was appointed as a teacher in a government school in Inder and started teaching.
Along with that he started taking preparation for UPSC Civil Service Exam. Unfortunately he did not get selected after giving the UPSC exam multiple times. He had UPSC last attempt in 2013, but failed for few marks. He then thought of teaching UPSC aspirants, and sent applications to several institutes.
And he established himself as a UPSC teacher.
