Gaddam Prasad Kumar in 1964 in a low-class family in Marpalli Kalyan village of Vikarabad district, Telangana. Father's name is Gaddam Yalla, he is a farmer by profession. Gaddam Prasad Kumar passed Intermediate in 1984, then admitted to Government Junior College for further education. He joined the Indian National Congress in 2008.

Political journey : - 

Gaddam Prasad Kumar joined the Indian National Congress in 2008. In 2008, he was elected as an Indian National Congress candidate from the Vikarabad assembly seat in Telangana and won for the first time. He became an MLA for the first time from 2008 to 2013 from Vikarabad Assembly, then for the second time from 2013 to 2018 from the same Assembly, similarly from 2018 to 2023, currently in 2023 he is contesting elections as a Congress candidate from Vikarabad Assembly in Telangana. After a landslide victory for the Telangana National Congress, Ravantha Reddy became the Chief Minister of Telangana, followed by a vote in the assembly to elect the new Speaker for the Telangana Assembly. Four-time Congress MLA Gaddam Prasad Kumar then became the Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly with huge support.
