Premananda Ji Maharaj was born in 1963 in a poor Brahmin family in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. His childhood name was Aniruddha Kumar Pandey, his father's name was Sri Shambhu Pandey, and his mother's name was Smt. Rama Devi. His grandfather was a monk. His family atmosphere was very holy, pure and devotional. Saints and Mahatmas used to come and go to his grandfather's house to become a monk. 

Aniruddha Kumar Pandey i.e. Premananda Ji used to listen very attentively to the spiritual discourses of Saints and Mahatmas during his childhood. As a result he became very attracted to spirituality, In 1976, when he was only 13 years old, he left his family in the dark of night and crossed the road to Vrindavan. He came to Vrindavan and worshiped the Lord and begged for food, people knew him as Brahmacharya as Ananda Swarap.
