Yesterday on September 22, 2023 popular IPS officer Vijayar Raman, known as India's Operation Man, passed away at the age of 72 in Pune. He was admitted to the hospital on September 18 due to breathing problems, but died on September 22.

Vijay Raman was born in 1952 to a middle-class family in Pune, India. His father was a day laborer and his mother a homemaker. He was very focused on his studies since childhood, he regularly studied and yanked at school. After completing his schooling from a local government school, he entered the university for higher education, completing his master's degree in economics. He then prepared for the UPC examination to become a civil servant, which he passed on the second attempt and started his career as an Indian police officer.

He started his career as Indian Police Sergeant in 1975, his first posting was in Madhya Pradesh cadre. Sportsman Pan Singh led a 14-hour police encounter against Tomar when he was an SP in the Madhya Pradesh cadre. Besides, he was part of anti-terrorist and anti-Naxalite campaigns.
After the death of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Vijay Raman was appointed as Assistant Director of Special Protection Group SPG. Rajiv Gandhi, Chandrasekhar, PV Nasima also managed the Prime Minister's protection.
Death and Death Cause : -
After retiring from service in 2011, he lived with his family in Pune. He was diagnosed with cancer in February 2023, and was undergoing treatment. On September 18, he was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted to the ICU. After a two-day stay, on September 1st, he felt much better and after talking to the doctors, his family brought him back home. Then suddenly on September 22, the very next day, the brave Indian police officer known as India's Operation Man breathed his last. With his family deeply saddened by his death, his last rites were performed on Friday afternoon in the presence of several Indian government officials and a large number of relatives.
Award and Recognition : -
He has been honored with several honors by the Government of India for his 36 years of bravery and perseverance in the Indian Police Service. In 1981, he was awarded the President's Police Medal for leading the 11-hour operation. Awarded the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1991. Also received multiple honors for leading various daring operations.
