Shubodeep Giri is the president of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad of Kanthi town of East Midnipur. He met a college girl and love started from the introduction. Shubdeep Giri sexually assaulted the student multiple times with promises of marriage and shot videos and photos of their intimate moments.
Later Shubhdeep Giri refused to marry her. The student asked to delete all the photos and videos of her intimate moments. In October 2022, Shubdeep called the girl to a hotel in Digha and forcibly raped her in the name of deleting the video.
As a result, on November 1, the girl tried to commit suicide in grief, shame and despair. So far, the incident was confined to their family but after they tried to commit suicide, they filed a complaint with the Kanthi police in the name of Subhdeep Giri.
A complaint has been filed against Shubodeep Giri under the Pox Act, but the police have yet to arrest him. According to local sources, Subhodeep has gone to another state.
