Prabir Chatterjee was arrested from his home by CBI on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
In 2013, when several chit fund companies like "Sahara" in West Bengal started cheating thousands of crores of hard-earned rupees of common people by showing the lure of high returns. Just then an investor invested about three lakh rupees in a company called "Bharat Krishi Samriddhi Limited", but later the company refused to return his money.
The person then lodged an FIR with the local police on April 20, 2013 against a money investment company named "Bharat Krishi Samriddhi Limited".
The managing director of that company was Prabir Chatterjee, the current block number one vice president of Khanakul, Hooghly. Subsequently, the case was dropped and after several years, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation on the orders of the court.
According to the CBI investigation, "Bharat Krishi Samriddhi Limited" has embezzled about Tk 90-100 crores by Praveer Banerjee and his associates.
On January 4, 2023, arrest warrants were issued for several Hooghly Trinamool leaders including Prabir Chatterjee after the investigation. Ignoring the arrest warrant issued by the Central Investigation Agency of India, Arambagh, Mayal was seen several times in political rallies and meetings.
On the morning of February 2, 2023, he was arrested from his house by the Central Investigation Agency (CBI). He has been brought to Kolkata. However, the leadership of Prabir's political party did not comment on Prabir Chatterjee's arrest.
