Nandini Chakraborty is Lady Brabone College and Jawaharlal Nehru University students. Nandini Chakraborty is an Administrative Service Officer of West Bengal cadre in 1994.Nandini was appointed as an IAS in the West Bengal cadre in 1994, when CPIM's Jyoti Bose was the Chief Minister of West Bengal. From the beginning, Nandini was Chief Minister Jyoti Bose's favorite bride. Mamata Banerjee of TMC came to power in West Bengal after the fall of CPIM in 2011.

In the beginning, Nandini Chakraborty had a good relationship with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Under Mamata Banerjee, Nandini Chakraborty has held several important posts like Director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, Secretary of West Bengal Tourism Department, Commissioner of Presidency Department, new Chief Secretary of Bio-Technology Department.
Later, Nandini Chakraborty had to face the wrath of Mamata Banerjee for questioning the expenditure on festivals and fairs of the West Bengal state government. Also, his relationship with Mamata Banerjee worsened when he questioned the placement of government advertisements in certain newspapers.
Later, his relationship with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee improved again. When Dhankhar was the Governor of West Bengal, Sunil Kumar Gupta was his Principal Secretary. Trinamool's communication with IAS Nandini began to be discussed from the time of Durga Puja. Trinamool state general secretary Kunal Ghosh and governor's principal secretary Nandini Chakraborty were seen together at the Puja Mandap of "Ram Mohan Sammelan" during Durga Puja in West Bengal. But many lower level leaders of Trinamool Congress were present there. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari alleged that Nandini Chakraborty is behind it. After a photo of a Trinamool leader with Nandini Chakraborty went viral, opposition leader Subvendu Adhikari alleged that Nandini Chakraborty was favoring the state government, and using the Chief Minister's Raj Bhavan for political purposes. Soon after, West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose sacked his Principal Secretary IAS Nandini Chakraborty.
